Parent meetings

Welcome back to school!  We had an awesome first day yesterday.  The 7th/8th grade classes were awesome, and it was so much fun giving the beginners their first lesson.  We can’t wait to see what they will be able to do this year.

We are having mandatory parent meetings this week to go over our handbook, policies, and other administrative duties.  You can take your pick of Wednesday, August 24th or Thursday, August 25th at 6PM in the CMS library.  The handbook is posted under the “handbook and forms” tab of this website.

Have a safe summer!

The halls are quiet here at Cockrill!  We are finishing out our work before leaving, but we wanted to thank everyone for the notes and gifts that were sent this week.  We will miss the graduating 8th graders!

Be sure to keep an eye on the website, as we will announce next year’s materials at some point during the summer.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!

Everyone please remember to bring the AWARD that you created for the name you drew in class. Instruments will NOT be needed in class tomorrow.

If you have borrowed any school-owned equipment, be sure to return it tomorrow. (Instruments, tuners, books, etc.) 

Tomorrow will be a fun day of giving & receiving awards, taking our final class pictures of the year, and remembering all the great times this year brought us!

Hawaiian Falls Trip Cancelled

Hello everyone,

Due to the current and upcoming thunderstorms this afternoon, we are cancelling the band/orchestra trip to Hawaiian Falls today.  Students who paid to go will receive their meal vouchers and tickets, and those will be valid throughout the 2016 season.
Please make sure your student knows how they are getting home after school today.  Sorry for the inconvenience!!

Hawaiian Falls Today!

If you’re going to Hawaiian Falls, be sure to come down to the orchestra room as soon as school gets out this afternoon.

If the weather is an issue and the trip is cancelled, you will receive your ticket and you can use it anytime during the 2016 season!  If there is a cancellation we will send an email through CHARMS and also post about it on here.  

See you this afternoon!  As of this morning, the trip is still planned for today.

Money is due Wednesday, May 25 by 4 pm for those planning on joining us at Hawaiian Falls! $28 Cash or check to MOBC is preferred. (If you wish to pay via PayPal, include $2 extra (round it up to $30) to cover the PayPal transaction fees.)

Remember your park admission includes dinner, ice cream, and unlimited drink refills! Parents are invited to join us & are the same price admission. In case of bad weather, your ticket may be used any other day in the 2016 season.

Hawaiian Falls!

By now everyone has received the info for the May 31 trip to Hawaiian Falls. We hope everyone can join us! $28 is due by next Wednesday for those attending. However, Hawaiian Falls needs an accurate head count from us by Monday. Parents, if you plan on having your child attend, please have them ready to let us know no later than Monday. 

Also, students will need to give us their dinner preference (hamburger OR hot dog) so that Hawaiian Falls will cook the proper amount of food for everyone.🙂

Parents are encouraged to come enjoy the park with us as well. Price is the same, and you can swim, ride the rides, or just chill in the cabana!

We are so proud of all the students who performed last night.  The kids were well prepared and performed with confidence and energy.  Please feel free to post any photos you took from the concert on our Facebook page for everyone to enjoy.

Star Wars and Sharks!

Our Spring Concert is this coming Monday, May 16th and you will not want to miss all the fun! Performer arrival time at North is 6pm for beginners, 6:30 for all other CMS Orchestra students. Concert begins at 7. See you then!

Dress Rehearsal

Don’t forget the dress rehearsal is coming up this week, on Wednesday May 11.  Schedules were sent home with your students last week, and an email copy went out this morning.  The rehearsal will be held at McKinney North HS auditorium, as will the concert.  Don’t forget the concert is going to be Monday, May 16th starting at 7PM!
